Ross Brawn
Team Principal - Honda Racing F1
"F1 in Schools is a fantastic initiative and I am very pleased to have been a Patron since 2006. My own passion for engineering began as a youngster with a meccano set and I was lucky enough to be encouraged by an enthusiastic father. F1 in Schools takes this to another level and encourages hundreds of young people to become interested in Formula One and enter the world of high-performance engineering. Working as part of a team in a competitive environment contributes enormously to the education and enjoyment of our future engineers. Practical experience is essential for any engineer, regardless of their academic qualifications, and it is something that we place great emphasis on at the Honda Racing F1 Team. My advice to any youngsters would be to get involved in F1 in Schools and find out for themselves how enthusiasm and innovation can find the simplest engineering solutions to complex problems. It is a real opportunity to gain an insight into the fascinating world of Formula One."
Pat

Engineering Director - Renault F1
“Formula One is about application, engagement, enthusiasm and team work. It does not just operate on the cutting edge of technology; it also requires that common technologies are taken to their own limits. These values should be applicable to all forms of engineering and F1 in Schools and its participants have these values in abundance.”
Mike
Gascoyne
Chief Technical Officer - Force India F1
" I was proud to continue my patronage of F1 in schools this year and greatly encouraged to see the initiative widening its reach and opening up the sport to ever increasing numbers of people. F1 in schools offers a perfect opportunity for young, enthusiastic students to really connect with the sport at a fundamental level and to integrate and develop ideas and skills effectively. I am sure that one day quite soon we will see these participants operating in the sport on a much more prominent basis.”

Michael
Technical Director -Williams F1
“F1 in Schools has really established itself well within the young student and F1 community and that is great for everyone involved. It offers students an insight into how Formula One works as they manage to handle engineering tasks such as CFD and CAD design at such an early age. In addition, it continues to surprise me how inventive the students are when they approach engineering problems from a different viewpoint. Anyone wishing to have any type of involvement in Formula One should look at this program."
Adrian
Newey
Chief Technical Officer -Red Bull Technology
"It would have been relatively easy to have created a competition that appeals simply to the “racing” aspect of motorsport. However, that is only a part of the F1 in Schools competition. As a patron, I am extremely encouraged to see how well these young people rise to the challenges of team working, design, engineering analysis, manufacturing, testing and marketing, in addition to having to develop a variety of presentation skills. They are all to be congratulated and heartily encouraged to progress along the technology path. It's comforting to know that our engineering and manufacturing future is in safe hands."
James
Allen
F1 Commentator - ITV
ITV-F1 lead commentator James Allen continues to show his support towards the initiative:
“I'm delighted to host the awards ceremony for the F1 in Schools world championships once again. It is a programme which I have supported with great enthusiasm for many years now. Each year the standard seems to get higher and this year is no exception. The level of engineering innovation these children attain is astonishing to me and to all the F1 engineers who come into the sphere of F1 in Schools.I'm fascinated to see how the long distance technical collaborations work this year. To see kids working together across continents using internet and video conferencing is hugely positive for the programme and if it proves a success this year I'm sure we'll see more of it in future.”
David Coulthard
Red Bull Racing driver
“F1 in Schools offers young people aspiring to work in F1 a great opportunity to experience the demands of designing, engineering and manufacturing a racing car while contributing enormously to their education and enjoyment. It's inspirational to see them channelling their enthusiasm into engineering and Formula One.”
Fernando Alonso
Renault F1 driver
It's always good to do things that get young people interested in motorsport, especially on the technical side, and this competition is the ideal way to do that. It gives them an opportunity to learn about engineering and to see the challenges that you face in a competitive environment.”
Dato Sri Hishammuddin Hussein
Malaysian Minister of Education
"We are honoured that F1 in Schools has chosen Malaysia as the host of the world finals. Malaysia is a growing motorsport nation, and we hope that having such a high profile, youth orientated, motorsport event in Malaysia, alongside our Grand Prix weekend will generate widespread interest both locally and in other Asian countries and showcase the educational and ICT initiatives we are developing within our country."
Anthony Davidson
Former Super Aguri driver
"I think F1 in Schools is a great idea, and a brilliant project for the pupils to be involved in. It encourages schools to see F1, and motorsports generally, as a serious career option, and gives the students the chance to get some vital experience and contacts.”
