First Middle East National Final a Great Success
Dated: 02/06/2009
Friday May 15th saw ten teams descend upon the F1 IN SCHOOLS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE in Dubai, for our first National (Invitational) Event. Ten teams comprising of almost 60 students competed, from both Oman and the UAE...
All competing teams had to:
1. Design and manufacture a scale model of an F1 car. Using industry-standard CAD software and a CNC router machine.
2. Give a ten-minute verbal presentation in front of a panel of judges.
3. Display their ‘team-identity’ in the form of shirts/uniforms/caps etc.
4. Organize and present a team display-area, showing all aspects of their project to date.
Marks are awarded for each of the above / with all marks being combined to find the winners.
Students, teachers, brothers, sisters, mums and dads all contributed to the atmosphere and made sure their participating teams were well supported.
As the first of many competitions, this event was held primarily to give those who felt ready, a real chance of boarding the flight to London in September to take part in the 2009 World Championships.
From the ten competing teams we offer congratulations to you all for your effort, hard work, determination and most of all…………..the sense of sheer enjoyment you brought to the day!
Two teams must be singles out for special congratulations
1. Team Neon from Oman and
2. Team Veludicrous from Dubai

The above will now represent their respective countries in September. We wish them well and hope to see them return with a trophy, but most of all with some special memories of what, I feel sure, will be a great occasion.
Final results were as follows: (Both of the above now preparing to attend World Championships in London in September) |
