F1 in Schools Champions visit the British F1 Grand Prix

The F1 in Schools Technology Challenge champions from this year’s event were awarded a special prize by Silverstone Circuit, with each team member being given weekend tickets to the 2007 Formula 1™ Santander British Grand Prix at Silverstone on 8 July.

Three talented groups of  F1 in Schools students were given the chance to go to the British Formula One Grand Prix and take time out in the paddock to fly the flag for F1 in Schools.  Throughout the weekend the teams were given the once in a lifetime opportunity to go into various F1 team garages and meet the real F1 technicians and drivers. 

The Northern Irish National and World Champions, Team FUGA from Coleraine Academical College, Coleraine, Northern Ireland were invited into the Toyota garage as well as the Williams garage where Sam Michael, Technical Director of Williams gave them a tour.

Team Momentus, the UK National Champions from Grython School, Sherbourne, Dorset were taken into the Redbull garage where they has their photo taken next to their faces which were printed on the Red Bull F1 Cars as part of the Red Bull Faces for Charity. . 

Ferrari invited the English National Champions from Devonport High School in Devonport, Team Pulse into their pit garage where they had the chance to talk to a top Ferrari technician as well as having their photos taken holding one of the Ferrari F1 steering wheels. 

Over the three days the teams were lucky enough to meet a great deal of high profile people from the world of formula one and had their photos taken with Bernie Ecclestone, Jackie Stewart, Lewis Hamilton plus many more.

The weekend was a great experience for all three teams and the whole atmosphere of the formula one paddock has definitely spurred them on to defend their F1 in Schools titles next season.  Register now to compete in next season's challenge with the Regional finals taking place during November and December 2007.
